A former customs officer was battling for his life last night after being riddled with bullets outside the Bahama Breeze night spot in Barr Street, Kitty.

Shenese Austin stabbed to death

The victim, identified as Leonard Mohamed, and said to be in his thirties, was shot at least four times in the stomach at around 21:00 hrs, while sitting in his car.
He is in a critical condition at the Woodlands Hospital.
Police recovered several spent shells from the scene and are treating the attack as an execution attempt.
According to reports, Mohamed had gone into the night spot, located at Barr Street and Vlissengen Road and had bought something to drink.
He then returned to his car with the beverage.
Kaieteur News understands that shortly after, a gunman, who was standing some 50 yards away, opened fire at Mohamed’s car.
At least nine bullets pierced the windscreen on the driver’s side, and some of them struck Mohamed in the stomach.
Some night club patrons said that shortly after, Mohamed, who was clutching his stomach, staggered into the night club and sat in the kitchen.
He then walked back to his car, and was about to collapse when some of the patrons came to his aid and put him in the vehicle.
One of the rescuers then drove the bullet-riddled vehicle, with the victim inside, to the Woodlands Hospital.
The victim’s wife and other relatives turned up shortly after, but declined to speak to Kaieteur News.

The bandits were said to be young men in their late teens and operated savagely.

Several shelves in the man's shop were empty when this newspaper visited. Some of the goods were scattered all over the floor.
