Internet café cleaned out by salt bag bandits

Three armed men on Tuesday night robbed a recently opened Internet Café on Forshaw Street of money, all of its computers and relieved the owner of other items before escaping.

Robbed of $11,000, four laptops

The proprietor of D&T Modern Internet Café, Dillon Pile is counting his losses after he was robbed of $11,000, four laptops, one Sony digital camera, his Nokia cellular phone and a gold band.

Stolen: Sony digital camera, Nokia cellular phone and a gold band.

Recounting what took place Pile said that at about 9:35 pm on Tuesday while he was behind his counter, the three men walked in and drew a .38 pistol, pointed it at him and demanded money.

At the time his twelve-year-old brother and a customer were browsing the net and the men took away a gold band from his brother. Pile stated that two of the men carried weapons and they placed all the laptops into a salt bag and walked out of the café. A man, he said, went into the cafe just as the bandits were about to leave and did not realize what had just taken place. After the bandits left he told the customer what had transpired and he and the man went after the bandits in a car.

He also alerted his relatives about the robbery before going after the men. He added that the men just simply disappeared because when they turned the corner they were nowhere in sight. He made a report at the Alberttown police station and investigations are continuing.

Pile told this newspaper that he opened the net café just about a month and a half ago and that he will now have to start all over since the men took all the laptops at his business place.
